Jul 30/02 - On the release of the Inspector Generals's report on US's role in the April 11-14 fiasco

PMBComment: having reviewed and interviewed all, the Inspector General of the State Department issues a report saying the US was NOT involved in the events of April 11-14. All is fine in Washington. My guess is that the report is correct. If anything these guys were lost – like many of us. The likely consequences though are that many of those who sweated waiting for the release of the report will be too scared to move a finger on Venezuela in the future. Is this a good outcome? I doubt it, as things will only get worse in the days, weeks, months and years to come. My humble recommendation to the US Government: rotate them all out of Venezuela duty ASAP. PMB
