PMBComment: I am waiting for the Chávez Press Conference to start&end to write something about the declaration-less (till now) IV Summit of the Americas. In the meantime I am posting an astonishing ad from the Ministry of Communications and Information of the very red Bolivarian Republic. The text reads as follows:

Hugo Chávez, Diego Armando Maradona, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Cindy Sheehan, Silvio Rodríguez…worthy representatives of those feed up of with the lies from the empire and who lead the III Summit of the People which is the real proposal for the IV Summit of the Americas.

500 political and social organizations from different parts of the World, march peacefully through the streets of Mar de Plata, to end up in the World Cup stadium of that city with an event to repudiate the presence of Bush.

There are some that still blame the US, and the Bush administration, for the current bad state of US-Venezuelan relations. This ad – paid with taxpayer funds – confirms ONCE more that Mr. Chávez needs this confrontation to survive and thrive. In the next few days, I will share additional –startling - evidence of the role the confrontation with the US plays in Hugo’s attempt to establish a stranglehold on Venezuela and the region. The level of irresponsibility is beyond criminal…like most of Chavez’s designs. PMB
